What is the goal?

The goal of the contest is to promote engineering education among junior students. Each team of contestants will construct a bridge with approximately 200 Popsicle sticks in accordance to the rules specified by PEO Scarborough Chapter.  Contest rules are provided on our website.

Who may participate?

There will be two (2) grade divisions (Grade 3-6 and Grade 7-8). Students under the same division will form several teams, each team consisting of one, two, or three students.

When is the contest?

On March 4th, 2006, the competition will be held at Scarborough Civic Center, Council Chambers.  

How to win?

Teams coming to the contest will bring their finished bridges to the competition site. A destructive load testing will be carried out on each of the bridges. For each grade division, prizes will be awarded in two categories – The Bridge with the highest performance rating and Judge’s Award.  Each of these two categories will have 1st and 2nd winning teams.  Each contestant will also receive a Certificate of Participation and each participating teacher from the schools will receive a Certificate of Recognition from PEO Scarborough Chapter.
